2nd Autumn term 2025 

The children are really getting into the swing of their time in Nursery. They continue to surprise and delight us with their development. We’ve had lots of fun with songs and stories last term and are planning to have lots more this half term!

A few reminders…

Morning routines

Each morning we will now be challenging the children to find their names from the whole selection of class names. This is certainly a challenge – especially if your child has a name that starts with same letter as someone else e.g Levi, Layla, Lawrence etc. Take some time to help your child look at the letters in their name. We will be sending home a name card with the letters formed in the way we will be encouraging your child to read – and eventually write, their name. Remember we will use a capital letter at the start and all other letters will be lower case.

We open the gate at 8.45 each morning to welcome children in. We now start a carpet session at 9.00 each morning. This is an important teaching and learning time so please help them to be on time.

Coats

As the weather gets colder please make sure that your child has a warm coat with a hood (with their name in). They need these every day. Please also label all your children’s jumpers and shoes as we have many that look just the same!

All the children can now put their coat on independently. The next step is to fasten it up! Keep encouraging them to have a go with support if needed.

Tapestry

We are now using Tapestry to send homework each week. It is really important that you are able to engage with this platform as we use it to share homework, important information and also hear back from you. Each week we pick three Focus Children. You will receive notification prior to your child being selected. During the Focus Child week, you will receive LOTS of lovely observations and photos of your child. Spare clothes

Some children have taken home their spare clothes, please make sure you return them. This should be a full change of clothes including underwear and socks.

Family Fridays

Each Friday we would now love you to come into class and spend a little time with your child. This is a chance to see what your child enjoys doing and is getting busy with each morning. It is also an opportunity to change your child’s Class Library Book. Saying ‘Goodbye’ to grown ups can be tricky for some children. Please be reassured that they ALL settle after you have gone – don’t let this deter you from attending.

Topics this Half Term

This half term our theme is ‘Terrific Tales. We will be reading some of the old favourites such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Three Billy Goats Gruff. We are also doing lots of listening games and learning about syllables in words and also rhyming words. In maths we will be working on repeating patterns and understanding words to do with position (on, under, between, behind, next to, etc). We will be continuing to do lots of noticing things that are the same and different including sets of objects e.g groups of 3, 2 or 1.

Towards the end of the term we will be getting ready for our Xmas production and party day.
