WellComm is a speech and language toolkit, that provides age appropriate activities to support language development. Both the Early Years and the Primary toolkits enable us to quickly and easily identify children needing additional support with speech, language and and communication skills. Throughout school, our staff have received training, so that they are able to deliver WellComm for our pupils.
All pupils in Nursery and Reception are screened at the beginning of the school year, to support us in identifying pupils who may require support, at the earliest opportunity. Additionally, the toolkits are used in other year groups for any pupils who have been identified as requiring additional support for their speech, language and communication skills.
In January 2023, our speech and language therapist, Rachel, delivered the first of two Sign Along training sessions, for members of Hollin staff. The second sessions, will be delivered in the coming weeks.
Sign Along is a key word sign-supported communication system based on British sign language and is used in spoken word order.
