On Tuesday 11th March 2025 our school council met with Miss Gee. The School Council has been listening to pupil voice and taking action! As requested, we now have a Friendship Bench in the playground - a place where anyone looking for a friend to play with can go. We also reviewed Mr Fenton’s feedback on our other requests.
On Tuesday 21st January 2025, our school council met with Miss Gee. They took the opportunity to look through the pupil suggestion box. They’ve created a list of ideas from their peers and will share these with Mr Fenton this week.
On Monday 29th April 2024, our school council representatives met with Miss Gee. With Mental Health week approaching, our school council’s newest project is a Positive Affirmations board. This will be displayed around school to spread happiness and support others. Pupils and staff are invited to add kind messages to the board, in order to put a smile on someone's face. This meeting was shared with our school community via our Twitter page.
Mental Health Awareness week 2024
During Mental Health awareness week, our School Council’s positive affirmations board was on display in the playground for everyone to read. During lunchtimes, children from all years enjoyed adding their own messages to spread happiness.
On Monday 18th March 2024, the school council met and completed some work on the five core British Values. They have created some fantastic bunting that will be showcased on our School Council display. You can view photographs from the meeting by clicking here.
Every year, a children's champion and deputy children's champion are elected to speak for children from all over Rochdale borough. They are chosen after elections at schools and youth clubs and are responsible for representing any views and concerns of children in loads of different areas.
At Hollin, we are fortunate to teach the current Deputy Children's Champion for 2023. What a fantastic achievement for one of our pupils, of whom we are so proud of.
